Catechists, Companions, & Aides

Faith-filled adults and teens are always invited and encouraged to share their faith with the families of our parishes. Like St. Barnabas, we need to encourage and inspire each other along the Christian journey through formation, accompaniment and witness. This builds up the body of Christ within our parish community. During our family faith formation sessions, an adult catechist will lead and another adult or older teen will assist. Working as a team, our catechists and aides encourage the children to grow into a deeper knowledge and love for the Lord. No formal teaching experience is required and complete session plans enable all volunteers to feel comfortable, even at their first session. Teen Confirmation candidates can complete all of their required service hours by assisting with our in-church sessions.

We also desire to invite more companions into our Family Faith Formation team that goes beyond catechizing. We want to invite those who feel called to invest in hospitality at sessions or be a facilitator, companion or intercessor for the program. Please see the document for descriptions. Lastly, we want to invite any and all who wish to walk with our 9-10th grade teens as a catechist. This is for our High School Formation sessions. Prayerfully consider, and contact Josh at Formation@southshorecatholic.org if you wish to join the team!
